PTC PUNJABI SPECIAL PREMIER : AMRINDER GILL STARRER 'ANGREJ' IS A PERFECT START OF THE WEEKEND

One specific aspect that differentiates Amrinder Gill starrer ‘Angrej’ from rest of the typical Punjabi comedy films is its extremely humble yet authentic fragrance which leaves a lingering sense of real and rustic Punjab on audience. Right from the direction, creative screenplay or power packed performance from its star cast, everything about film ‘Angrej’ will make you fall in love with those times when there was no technology and inter human relationships were the tenet of a happy life.

The simple love story of Geja, who falls in love with ‘Maarho’ from a village nearby, Geja’s friend Aslam Cheema (Binnu Dhillon), the rich guy Haakam (Ammy Virk) and Geja’s second love interest Dhann Kaur (Sargun Mehta), will make you feel like watching this film in a loop. Certain scenes like the one where Geja confesses him being in love with a girl which follows with his mother’s over-dramatic response will leave you in splits.

All that aside, director Simerjit Singh’s deep research about old Punjab does show in the film as you get to see how weddings used to take place in ancient Punjab, the old folk songs (ਬੋਲੀਆਂ),the wedding preparations, all that makes film ‘Angrej’ much more than a simple love story.
