THE TRADITIONAL STYLE OF COOKING : PUNJABI GOURMET

Punjabis and Punjabi Food is famous all over the food. Punjabi's have rich lifestyle and their aura is famous Worldwide. Wherever, they go, they are the most talked about people for their food and eating habits. Punjabi Cuisine consists of so many food items from the Punjab region of India and Pakistan.

It ensembles many distinct ways to cook out of which "Tandoori" cooking is very special and is now famous in other countries including, UK, Europe and Canada also. Every city in Punjab is famous for their respective food item that is the highlight of that city. Mostly, the Punjabi Cuisine is influenced by the agriculture and farming, being this as the main occupation of Punjabi's.

Punjab is not limited with its famous "Tandoori Cooking". There are varieties of cooking techniques used in Punjab that provide a unique and flavorful taste to the dishes. The traditional way of cooking food that has been working since ages is "Wood Fired Burning Stoves" and many of the people use dried cow dung in the form of "Uplas" as the fuel for the burning stoves.

But, slowly and steadily, this traditional way of cooking is diminishing. People are moving towards the new way to cook by using the LPG stoves inside their houses. While, we talk about the traditional "Tandoors", they are embraced by Punjabis on a regional level. Punjabi's resettled in many parts of Delhi after partition. And, Delhi being the capital of India, this method spread World Wide. In Punjabi Cuisine, various equipment are used including Pressure Cookers, Iron Griddle, etc.

Still people living in villages prefer Outdoor Cooking. For this they need "Chulha". Which is also known as Earth Ovens. Many older communities prefer the "Chulha" but the tradition is dying with time. The modernized world is leaving people with no time. These ancient and traditional techniques of cooking takes time. But our instant LPG stoves are providing us the facilities in no short of time.

So, this is making people away from the traditions and close to the modern techniques. Are we moving towards the wrong direction? Well! people have their own reasons for that. They are keeping it bias, depending upon the time and requirements of the individuals. So, Punjabi Cuisine can be prepared with both traditional and modern methods. Undoubtedly, they differ in taste and texture but can fill the belly for the time.
