98-Year-Old Gurdev Kaur Ji Of Moga Stitches Free Masks For Poor With Compromised Vision

At this time of suffering when everyone is thinking of their own and protecting themselves in this pandemic, we are forgetting that some of the others need help too.

One such old lady of Moga district of Punjab has extended her hand to help the poor around her. She is 98-year-old Gurdev Kaur Dhaliwal, who is stitching free masks for poor in her area. She may be close to turning 100 soon, but she is a warrior amid this pandemic as her family supports her in stitching masks with her.

“We are making face masks and distributing among passers-by free of cost,” says Gurdev Kaur in a video made by BBC.

Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Punjab’s Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has shared about her on Twitter. Harsimrat wrote: “I salute the grit & determination of the 98-yr-old Gurdev Kaur Ji of Moga for proving that age is no barrier when it comes to serving the nation. She has been passionately doing her bit to make sure we all wear #mask to win this #fightagainstcorona. It's truly inspirational! ??” as she shared her picture, while Captain Amarinder Singh has shared her video.

Her bleak vision does not let her down and she finds support in her daughters-in-law and grandchildren who are all involved in sewing masks for a cause.

Meanwhile, all over Punjab, people are making handmade face masks to help shield doctors, nurses and many others from coronavirus.
