Air India To Paint Its Tail Wing With ‘Ik Onkar’ Logo To Mark 550th Birth Anniversary Of Guru Nanak Dev Ji

National carrier Air India has painted ‘Ik Onkar’ on one of its top model aircraft, Boeing 787 Dreamliner, to commemorate 550th birthday of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The flight will fly thrice a week from Amritsar to Stansted, United Kingdom, from October 31st onwards.

The international flight from Amritsar to Stansted in London will facilitate Sikh pilgrims visiting Punjab on the occasion of 550th Prakash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The aircraft has the flight capacity of 256-seats and will serve Punjabi cuisine to the passengers onboard to enhance their experience.

Air India has put the Sikh 'Ik Onkar' symbol on its aircraft tail to mark Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s 550th birth anniversary, which is to be celebrated on November 12. This is the first time an Indian airline has made such a gesture.

Captain Amarinder Singh, Chief Minister of Punjab, took down to Twitter to share the picture of the tail wing and his appreciation for this gesture of Air India. He wrote: "Heartwarming to see ‘Ik Onkar’ painted on the tail of

@airindiain’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner as part of the historic celebrations on the #550thPrakashPurb of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. ??"

'Ik Onkar' symbol is a central tenet of Sikh religious philosophy.

Besides, Vikram Sahney tweeted: "To mark 550th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji @airindiain will Paint it’s “TAIL WING” with logo “( ੴ ) “ - called as EK ONKAAR means “THERE IS ONLY BUT ONE GOD"Thanks to @narendramodi and @HardeepSPuri Minister of state for Civil Aviation for this unprecedented move."

Meanwhile, Air India will also start a direct flight between Amritsar and Patna from October 27 as the Gurudwara Patna Sahib which is in Bihar's capital (Patna) is a sacred place for the Sikh community. The Gurudwara is the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Guru of the Sikhs.
