Biopic On 1971 Martyr Arun Khetarpal: This Soldier Single-Handedly Defeated 7 Pak Tanks

Actor Varun Dhawan has been approached to portray the story of youngest Param Vir Chakra Recipient, Arun Khetarpal on big screen. Filmmaker Sriram Raghavan, who is known for films including Andhadhun and Badlapur, will be directing it.

Arun Khetarpal had just joined the Indian Army as a second lieutenant when he was called to the war front in 1971.

The 21-year-old braveheart single-handedly defeated seven Pakistani tanks before losing his life in the Battle of Basantar during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971.

According to the reports, Ritesh Shah will be scripting the biopic, which is said to be titled ‘Ekkis’.

Besides, filmmakers in Bollywood are reportedly working on 8 films on the armed forces.

Director Abhishek Kapoor will be directing a film based on Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, who spent around 60 hours in Pakistan after his MiG-21 Bison jet was shot down in a dogfight with Pakistani jets on February 27.

Bhuj: Pride of India is the other film which will show the significance of the Bhuj airport during the 1971 India-Pakistan war. The film stars big name like Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha and Punjabi singer-actor Ammy Virk.

A biopic on IAF pilot, Gunjan Saxena, evacuated her fellow injured soldiers from Kargil in 1999, is also in the pipeline.
