Yash Chopra. The mere mention of this name brings memories of some of the most remembered bollywood movies ever made. Known as the King of Romance, a lot of stars of contemporary cinema owe their success to this great Filmmaker. On his 85th birth anniversary today, wishes are pouring in from the entire Hindi film industry.
Yash Chopra, who started off as assistant director to S. Johar and elder brother B R Chopra made his solo debut with ‘Dhool ka Phool’ in 1959. Born into a Punjabi hindu family in Lahore, Pakistan on 27th September 1932, Yash Chopra is most remembered for ‘Lamhe’, the film that he directed as well as producted. The film was one exceptionally well overseas and was one of the biggest hits of the year.
Hailed for shaping the careers of the likes of Shahrukh Khan, Amitabh Bachan, Shashi Kapoor’ Yash Chopra directed some of the most iconic film of Hindi cinema like ‘Zanjeer, Kaala Patthar, Trishul, Aadmi aur Insaan, Veer Zara and Jab tak hai jaan’.
Awarded with innumerable prestigious awards, Yash Chopra passed away on 21 October 2012.
