BRITISH MP TANMANJEET SINGH ACQUAINTS THE PUBLIC ON LANGAR IN GURUDWARA

Sikh community around the world is known for its selfless service to humanity. Be it a calamity or a natural disaster, when it comes to helping the needy, Sikhs are always at the forefront.It is a well known fact in India that Sikh Gurudwaras across the globe offer free meals (called langar) wherein anyone can come and partake food.

However, not many people in foreign countries are aware of this phenomenon due to which many who need help remain deprived of it. To apprise the general public about the same, Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi, a British politician from the Labour party who also happens to be the first turbaned Sikh MP in UK opened up a public invitation to all to sit with him for langar at Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha - Slough today.

Followed by the recent news from Slough suggesting a steady rise in homelessness and people resorting to food banks, the timing for such an auspicious initiative couldn’t have been better. As per reports, the British MP apprised the public about the ideology behind Langar in Gurudwara.

Tanmanjeet Singh also took to twitter to express his gratitude for hosting the event as a part of Langar Week. This is to be noted that the 'Langar Week' event will be held from 2nd October till 8th October at Singh Sabha Gurudwara, Sheehy Way, Slough.
