Earlier in April, Rishi Kapoor was declared cancer-free. The veteran actor spoke to Deccan Chronicle and said: “My eighth month of treatment started on May 1 in the US. But God has been kind! I am in remission, meaning now I am cancer-free. I will have to do a bone marrow transplant, which in all probability should take another two months minimum. Being in remission is a big thing and it’s all because of my family and my fans prayers and duas that have worked. I thank them all.”
The 66-year-old actor was last seen on silver screen in a cameo in “Manto”, directorial venture of noted actor Nandita Das.

I urge my well-wishers not to worry or unnecessarily speculate. It’s been 45 years ‘plus’ of wear and tear at the movies. With your love and good wishes, I will be back soon.”
