Happy Birthday Akshay Kumar! Know About His Journey From Rajiv Bhatia To ‘Khiladi Kumar’

Bollywood’s ‘Khiladi’ Akshay Kumar is one of the biggest actors of the industry. Known for doing films of almost all the genres ranging from patriotic to funny, the actor is celebrating his birthday today on September 9.

Born as Rajiv Bhatia, the actor is professionally known as Akshay Kumar. Born in India, the actor has Canadian citizenship. He has appeared in over 100 films and won several awards, including two national film awards for the best actor in films like ‘Rustom’ and ‘Pad Man’.

Apart from acting, Akshay has worked as a stunt actor; he has often performed many dangerous stunts in his films, which has earned him the sobriquet ‘Indian Jackie Chan’. The actor has consistently been on the Forbes list of highest-paid entertainers in the world.

Akshay’s father was an army officer and from a very young age, he was very interested in sports.

After having obtained a black belt in Taekwondo, he studied martial arts in Bangkok and worked as a chef and waiter. Upon his return to Bombay, he commenced the teaching of martial arts.

During this time, the father of one of his students recommended him into modeling which ultimately led to a modeling assignment for a furniture showroom. Later, Akshay signed for a lead role by producer Pramod Chakravarthy for the movie ‘Deedar’.
