Amitabh Bachchan is one of the most versatile artists of the Hindi film industry. The actor was born on October 10, 1942 in Allahabad. Besides being an ace actor, he is a film producer, television host, and an occasional playback singer. The actor gained popularity in the early 1970s for films like ‘Zanjeer’, ‘Deewar’, ‘Sholay’ among others.

Amitabh has won various honours throughout his career, including National Film Awards, Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Filmfare Awards, and Padma Shri Award among others.

As the actor turns 77, here are his 10 iconic roles, which made the audience go crazy!

Shahenshah

Shahenshah is a 1988 action film, directed by Tinnu Anand. The film became a huge blockbuster, making it one of the successful films of Amitabh.

Piku

Amitabh’s role in Piku was of a father, and he portrayed one of the coolest father-figure on screen. Being a grumpy aging father was not easy for Amitabh but he managed to ace it and receive national award for the best actor category.

Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy

Bachchan may have had a small role in the film, but his avatar in the film is one to remember. He is seen wearing a saffron shawl paired with a thick grey mustache and beard. He played the role of Gosaayi Venkanna, the guru of Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, which is essayed by Chiranjeevi.

In order to play Rishi Kapoor’s father onscreen, Amitabh had to sport an older look that made him look a hundred plus in age. A lot of prosthetics and make up was used to nail the right the look.

Big-B played the role of a 12 year old boy, suffering from a rare genetic disorder,  that causes him to age unnaturally. The actor also won a national award for the same.

Badla

Featuring Taapsee Pannu and Amrita Singh in important roles, the mystery thriller got many praises from the audience and critics. The gfilm rossed over ₹138.49 crore worldwide.

Cheeni Kum

This unconventional narrative saw Amitabh romancing Tabu who is less than half his age. He plays the role of a chef and rocked a pony tail and white French-beard in the movie.

Sarkar

Big-B played the role of a powerful gangster in the film, who is framed for murdering a politician.

The courtroom featured Amitabh as a lawyer, who decides to fight a molestation case against politically powerful boys.

Black featured Rani Mukerji in the lead opposite Bachchan. The film revolved around a blind, mute, and deaf girl and the relationship she developed with her teacher, Amitabh, who later developed Alzheimer.
