Today marks the 20 year anniversary of “Oye-Hoye”, or as fans lovingly call it “Gallan Goriyan”. On this day in 1999, this song became a beautiful milestone for me as it found a spot in hearts nation wide pan India and all across the world. More deeply, the success of this song enabled me to be in a position to push boundaries and open doors to create a new chapter in Punjabi Cinema’s history. Bringing along T-Series, the first film with the revered Manmohan Singh, “Jee Aayan Nu” was released, and it built the Punjabi film industry into the strong standing it is in today.
