Here are some best picks for the weekend

Are you stumped as to what to watch? From Netflix's Red Notice to Disney Plus Hotstar's Special Ops 1.5, we've got 9 titles worth your time this weekend.

This weekend, OTT platform fans and moviegoers will be treated to a multi-language treat. Special Ops, starring Kay Kay Menon, returns for a second season on Disney+ Hotstar. It is neither a prequel nor a sequel in the strictest sense, as it only has four episodes.

Kurup is the highlight of the weekend for moviegoers. It is a film about the criminal Sukumara Kurup, starring Dulquer Salmaan, and is one of the most anticipated films of the year. It's available in a variety of languages.

Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot star in Netflix's Red Notice, which ups the oomph factor.

Special Ops, a Disney+ Hotstar show, was a smash hit when it debuted on the streaming giant. Now, Special Ops 1.5: The Himmat Story, a prequel, has been released. It tells the narrative of how Kay Kay Menon's Himmat Singh rose from humble beginnings to become a great R&AW officer. Vinay Pathak, Gautami Kapoor, Aftab Shivdasani, Aadil Khan, Parmeet Sethi, and Kali Prasad Mukherjee star in the web series, which is directed by Neeraj Pandey. "He is still his keen, sardonic self, pushing back against crooked, incompetent seniors and catching the backs of the people he works with," said Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express, praising Menon's Himmat Singh.

This quality inspires endless admiration in Abbas Sheikh (Vinay Pathak), a conscientious cop and loyal collaborator who picks up the threads and tells us the story of his hero's ascension chapter by chapter. The nicest aspect of this season is also the conversations between two people."

Adulting Season 3 has debuted on Amazon miniTV, starring Aisha Ahmed and Yashaswini Dayama. Ray and Nikhat, two flatmates and best friends, are the protagonists of the series. The two females will once again be navigating life in Mumbai, as they have in the previous two seasons. As Nikhat unravels her love life and Ray matures professionally, the new season welcomes some new cast members. 'Through the distinct yet relatable representation of life in an urban jungle,' the makers of the slice-of-life show have promised.

Red Notice: Netflix

Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds star in the Netflix film Red Notice, and these three alone are enough to pique your interest. The name "Red Notice" comes from an Interpol alert of the same name. "An Interpol-issued Red Notice is a global notice to hunt down and catch the world's most sought," according to the official summary of the film. But there's no predicting what will happen when a spectacular heist puts together the FBI's top profiler (Johnson) and two rival crooks (Gadot, Reynolds)." However, the assessments speak of overpromising and underdelivering.

Kurup: In Cinemas

Kurup, directed by Srinath Rajendran, stars Dulquer Salmaan as Sukumara Kurup, dubbed "India's most sought fugitive." Sobhita Dhulipala, Indrajith Sukumaran, Shine Tom Chacko, Sunny Wayne, and Bharath Niwas also star in the film. The storey follows a conman who murdered an artist named Chacko in 1984 and then used his body to fake his death in order to collect insurance money. Kurup was supposed to come out in May of 2021. The film was postponed owing to the Covid-19 second wave and ensuing lockdown. The film earned largely positive reviews at its initial release.
