The name "Red Notice" comes from an Interpol alert of the same name. Kurup, directed by Srinath Rajendran, stars Dulquer Salmaan as Sukumara Kurup, dubbed "India's most sought fugitive." Sobhita Dhulipala, Indrajith Sukumaran, Shine Tom Chacko, Sunny Wayne, and Bharath Niwas also star in the film. The storey follows a conman who murdered an artist named Chacko in 1984 and then used his body to fake his death in order to collect insurance money. Kurup was supposed to come out in May of 2021. The film was postponed owing to the Covid-19 second wave and ensuing lockdown. The film earned largely positive reviews at its initial release.
