Here Is The Inspiring Journey Of First Amritdhari Sikh Pilot Of Air India, Jaideep Singh Walia

Jaideep Singh Walia is one of those sikh men who has made the whole Sikh community proud. He is the first and only Amritdhari Sikh pilot of Air India. He has been a captain with AirIndia for the last 14 years now.

Besides, he is also one of the youngest Air Commanders of Air India.

Jaideep narrates his story as a confused young child, who had no focus in life. He never took his academics seriously and is a high school dropout.

Later on, he pursued Punjabi honours at Khalsa College, but left that too after the first semester and shifted his course to correspondence.

He has worked at a call centre for 4 months, and then switched to join his dad’s business. He further worked as a Sikh model as well for a year but nothing pacified his mind and he couldn’t stick onto a single profession.

“Finally I asked my heart, what do you want? Is this how you want to spend the rest of your life? And it turned out I wanted to become a pilot,” he said. Jaideep further added, “I had to convince my dad a lot for this, because he didn’t believe that I would stick to this as well.”

Jaideep’s dad did his private pilot training in his early years which probably influenced him to give it a shot. At a remarkable age of 22, he became a pilot to a jet aircraft, and at the age of 27, he became one of the youngest Air commanders in the world.

Kuddos to the young man to achieve more heights!
