Here's how Akshay Kumar reacts to reports of him being India's highest taxpayer

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, who is known for being punctilious about paying taxes, was reportedly honoured by the Income Tax department as India's "highest taxpayer" recently.

In the meanwhile, Akshay Kumar has reacted to the reports that stated that the Income Tax has honoured him as India's 'highest taxpayer'.

Responding to the same, Akshay Kumar told the news agency ANI: "Ji mujhe kaha to yehi gaya hai (about being the highest taxpayer). I am really honoured.:

"It feels great that the Income Tax department recognises the whole thing and gives credit to people. Also, It's good that when you earn, you give it back to the country. It's one of the best feelings," the actor added.

It is pertinent to mention that as per the reports in 2015 and 2019, Akshay Kumar was on the Forbes list of highest-paid entertainers across the world. He ranked 52 with earnings of USD 48.5 million (Rs 386 crore approx).

Apart from films, Akshay earns a lot of money through brand endorsements. Soon after the reports stated that Akshay Kumar was felicitated as India's 'highest taxpayer', his fans praised the actor and called him a "responsible citizen."

"According to haters, some journalists, fans of other actors he is not a Global superstar, he is Canadian and many more things but still he is paying highest income tax than rest of the industry from last 5 years. My superstar," a Twitter user wrote.
