Holi 2020: This Is How You’ll Know You Are At A Punjabi Holi Party

‘Holi Hai!’ While Holi is here, the shops are all set with variety of colours. But Holi isn’t about colours and pichkaris only. This festival is definitely an occasion for a huge treat. For Punjabis, Holi parties are not just about applying colours or rain dance. It is about a big ‘daawat’ rich in eatables and food items of their choice.

There are lot more things which are included in a ‘Punjabi Holi Party’. So, if you spot the following things in a Holi Party, then your host is definitely a Punjabi!

Dhol

It is trend of rain dance in Holi parties. But a Punjabi Holi party shall always include a ‘Dhol’. The dhol mix version of ‘rang barse’ might make you fall in love with the twist provided in the boring Holi music.

Gujhiya

Gujhiya being the ‘mandatory holi dish’ is favourite of Punjabis too. But you might spot Gujhiya floating in desi ghee with ‘silver vark’ in a bulk over it. From the stuffing of ‘khoya’ or ‘Maava’ to the dry fruits, everything is supposed to be a little extra.  It is because ‘Punjabis like it grand’!

Lassi

Of course, Thandai or Bhang is a part of the Holi party but can you imagine Lassi not being in the beverages in the party of a Punjabi?

Dahi Bhalla

The main course of a Punjabi includes Dahi bhalle. For sure, a Punjabi thali is incomplete without dahi bhalle and chutney.

Stalls

Stalls of golgappe, tikki, paapdi chaat or of mehandi are the latest trends in the Holi parties. A Punjabi Holi party shall never miss on these stalls.

Even if you aren’t a Punjabi and you wish to organise a Holi Party, these ideas shall always work. Consider these and immediately add these in your list. Make your Holi party different and happening from the previous ones.
