Given that Will Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith is facing an auto-immune disease, many people believed that Will Smith was correct and that Chris Rock should have taken notice.

“How was your weekend?" he quipped, to which the audience responded with laughter. “I don’t have a bunch of s*** about what happened, so if you came to hear that, I had like a whole show I wrote before this weekend. And I’m still kind of processing what happened, so at some point, I’ll talk about that s***. And it’ll be serious and it’ll be funny, but right now I’m going to tell some jokes,"

He didn't say Will's name, though. “Other than the weird thing, life is pretty good,” he said at one point mid-way through his act.
The incident between the two stars was sparked by Chris Rock's remark about Will Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. Will Smith has issued an apology for hitting Chris Rock at the Academy Awards, calling his behavior "unacceptable and inexcusable."
