Faridabad based businessman, Davinder Singh is feeding the underprivileged since April 5, 2018. He has set up a kitchen in his car to travel and feed the people at by-pass road in Faridabad. He started this initiative called ‘Aap Ki Rasoi’ to feed the poor people in Rs 5. He charges this amount from people so that they don’t feel like they are fed for charity. Further, who can’t afford the amount is distributed free food. He started feeding 40 to 50 people a day and now, the numbers have touched around 400 to 500 people a day! Davinder started this initiative and feeding the poor after he was shook by the death of two children in Delhi due to starvation in 2006. He began to think of ways to help the poor people, therefore came up with the idea of ‘Aap Ki Rasoi’. His family supports him in this decision and helps him to distribute the food in various parts of the city. The sole idea of this initiative is to feed the hungry on the streets of the city at a price of Rs 5. Davinder’s family cooks food every Saturday night, which is then served to the hungry on the following morning. Each person is served two vegetables, four rotis and rice.
