Bhakshak Real Story: All You Need To Know
The story of 'Bhakshak' draws inspiration from the disturbing events that transpired in the Muzaffarpur Women's Shelter Case of 2020. This case shook the nation's conscience, revealing the horrors endured by young girls under the guise of protection.
In the film, Aditya Srivastava portrays Bansi Sahu, a character reminiscent of Brajesh Thakur, the orchestrator of the atrocities in the real-life case. Bhumi Pednekar shines as an investigative journalist, driven by a relentless pursuit of truth and justice.
The Muzaffarpur Women's Shelter Case came to light when the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) submitted a damning report to the Bihar government in May 2018. The report detailed the appalling sexual abuse suffered by minors within the shelter's walls.
In response, the Bihar government swiftly took action, relocating the girls to safer environments and initiating legal proceedings. The Supreme Court, recognizing the severity of the situation, transferred the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for thorough scrutiny.
In 2020, a Delhi court handed down convictions to 19 individuals involved in the heinous crimes perpetrated at the shelter home. Brajesh Thakur, once a respected figure, faced the full force of the law, being found guilty of aggravated sexual assault and gang rape under the POCSO Act.
Despite the convictions, the pursuit of justice continues. In 2023, the CBI opened a new chapter in the case, investigating the disappearance of a girl falsely documented as reunited with her family in 2015.
