Film-making is one such platform that has the potential to make something unknown reach the corners of the entire world. That is why, time and again filmmakers have come forward and shown the social responsibility to tell the world about some personalities that otherwise only a handful will know.
Showing one such initiative, renowned filmmaker R Balki is coming up with a project titled ‘Padman’ which will be based on the awe-inspiring life of social entrepreneur Arunachalam Muruganantham. Padman that stars Akshay Kumar playing the lead role will hit the theaters on the occasion of Republic Day of 2018.
To educate our readers, Arunachalam Muruganantham is a social entrepreneur from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, India. Arunachalam is hailed for his invention of low-cost sanitary pad making machine and has innovated grass-roots mechanisms for generating awareness about traditional unhygienic practices around menstruation in rural India. Having the production capacity of producing sanitary pads for less than a third of the cost of commercial pads, Arunachalam’s machines have been installed in 23 of the 29 states of India.
Revealing the first poster of the film on twitter, Akshay Kumar came up with an interesting quote saying, “Not all superheroes come with capes! Bringing you the true story of a real superhero, Padman this Republic Day – 26th January, 2018! “
Padman will be Twinkle Khanna’s venture production in association with Dear Zindagi famed Gauri Shinde.
