PAMMI BAI HONOURED WITH LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD BY CHANDIGARH UNIVERSITY YESTERDAY.

The Punjabi folk singer Paramjit Singh Sidhu who is popularly known as "Pammi Bai" has been awarded with "Lifetime Achievement Award" by Punjabi Virasat Manch at a sparkling ceremony at Chandigarh University Gharuan. The Punjabi Virasat Manch has taken a decision to honour this legendary singer for his high contribution to promote Punjabi culture, Punjabi Folk Singing and Folk Dances of Punjab at National and International level through his songs. Nidharak Singh Brar, the President of Punjabi Virasat Manch said, "Pammi Bai has been actively involved for last 37 years to present the rich Punjabi Virasat at International level in the form of Punjabi folk dance and folk singing." The singer was also appreciated by Prof. Rajpal Singh for his attribution in Punjabi Folk singing and dance as he is motivation and contribution has encouraged many generations to take up Punjabi Folk singing and Dancing as their profession. So he give him the title "Brand Ambassador of Punjabi Folk".

This is a matter of Pride for any actor to achieve this level in his profession. Pammi Bai was enthrilled on getting this Lifetime Award. He was asked about how he is feeling? He said, "As a true torch bearer of Punjabi Folk, I will continue to serve Punjabi Language, literature ans culture and heritage continue to live and thrive." On receiving this award, the 52 years old Pammi Bai expressed gratitude and thanked the Punjabi Virasat Manch for honouring him.

Many other famous singers, Jasbir Jassi, Former President Punjabi Sahitya Academy, Prof. Gurbhajan Gill, International Activist for the promotion of Punjabi Culture, prof. Rajpal Singh, Eminent Punjabi Scholar, Dr. Deepak Manmohan Singh, Director of Youth Welfare, Punjab University, Prof. Nirmal Jaura were also present during this award ceremony. In the time when youth is so fascinated by western culture, someone is holding the responsibility to liaison them to their traditions, rituals, customs and culture .
