Punjabis are everywhere and their exemplary help to the needy show how they work for the welfare of the society. Due to their hard work and their selfless contribution towards the welfare of the society, Malaysia’s Penang Island has received what is probably its first road signage in Gurmukhi, one of the scripts for the Punjabi language. The Facebook page of Wadda Gurudwara Sahib Penang shared the pictures of the sign board with the followers as they shared their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to Sardar YB Jagdeep Singh Deo Ji and the state government for their kind gesture. The post also reveals that the sangat has received food packets at this crucial time and will be distributing them to the needy families of all races. They have received 20 packets of dry rations and another 80 packets will be sent later, totaling to 100 packets. Jagdeep Singh Deo told to a leading news agency that the state government approved the request to put Gurmukhi script on the Gurdwara Road signage, which was made by the Sikh community on Jan 15. Meanwhile, the Sikh community is so proud of the naming and Penang Island is the first in Malaysia for having Gurmukhi wordings for the street.
