Proud Moment! Indian American Senator Manka Dhingra Appointed As First Sikh Elected To Any State Legislature In The US

Proud moment for the Sikh community as the women of the community takes over the world with their power. The Indian-American Senator Manka Dhingra has been appointed as a member of a bipartisan committee in the Washington State Senate to address the state’s long-term economic recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.

Manka is the first Sikh elected to any state legislature in the US. “Honoured to be selected to serve on this Special Committee on Economic Recovery. This is an opportunity to hear from experts across the country to make bold changes in order to create opportunities for success for all Washingtonians,” Manka Dhingra, Senator for Washington’s 45th Legislative District, tweeted.

Reportedly, the committee will hold its first meeting in June and will make recommendations on Covid – 19 for the next year’s 2021 session to recover the state’s economy.

Meanwhile, the Sikh community is proud of Manka’s achievement and congratulates her as she is appointed as the first Sikh elected any state legislature in the US.

While the pandemic is not yet over by any means, but it is time to make some changes for the recovery of the world.
