Punjab Mail: Some Unknown Facts About ‘First Superstar’ K L Saigal

The audience will get to know some interesting facts about legendary actor Kundanlal Saigal, popularly known as KL Saigal. Considered the first superstar of the Hindi film industry, KL Saigal rose to national fame for his drunken title character in “Devdas”.

Besides acting, Saigal also sang few songs in the film. Songs like "Balam Aaye Baso Moray Man Mein" and "Dukh Ke Ab Din Beetat Naahi", became popular throughout the country.

KL Saigal’s role in “Devdas” went on to became so much popular in Hindi cinema that the role was later essayed on screen by actors like Guru Dutt, Dilip Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan and others.
