Ranjit Bawa, Prabh Gill take a dig at Janhvi Kapoor's 'Goodluck Jerry' for wrong depiction of Punjab

Ranjit Bawa, Prabh Gill mocks Janhvi Kapoor's Goodluck Jerry: It is very sad that Punjabis are frequently portrayed wrong in Bollywood films. There is a stigma in the films that young Punjabis are often comedians or youngsters aspire to shift to foreign lands. However, this is only the one side as Punjab and Punjabis are much more than this.

Although the representation of Punjabis have been uplifted by the Bollywood filmmakers for long time now, there is still long way to go. In a recently released film 'Goodluck Jerry', starring Janhvi Kapoor, the makers depicted Punjabis abruptly and some artists from Punjab expressed their displeasure for the same.

Singer and actor Ranjit Bawa, who is known to voice his opinions, took to his Twitter account and raised questions over the wrong depiction of Punjab in the Bollywood films till date.  Ranjit Bawa voiced his displeasure with how Janhvi Kapoor's "Good Luck Jerry" depicted Punjab in a wrong manner.

The recently released film 'Good Luck Jerry' describes the tale of a Bihari girl residing in Punjab who makes effort to make some fast cash and ends up smuggling drugs. The story's depiction of drug in Punjab and its setting didn't go well with a huge number of crowd.

Ranjit Bawa expressed his anger and claimed that Punjab is once again depicted as a drug addict. He also questioned whether Punjab would simply be depicted as a narcotics state.

In his tweet, he tagged Chief Minister of Punjab and wrote, "#Goodluckjeery movie vich Ek vaar fir Panjab nu Chiitta ( Nasha ) wala dikhaya gya panjab Nu bus hun bollywood movies vich drug state hi dekhaoge ? #shame #target #state #bollywood @CMOPb #siddharthsen"

 

Singer Prabh Gill also expressed his opinion on the same and retweeted Ranjit Bawa's post. He captioned, "#Shame #Bollywood Take Strict Action @CMOPb"

However, the post was later deleted by the singer.

The thread added mixed opinion from both Punjabis as well as non-Punjabis.

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Ranjit Bawa is currently working on ' Parahuna 2', 'MIB: Kale Kacchian Wale' and other projects. He was most recently seen in the film 'Khao Piyo Aish Karo' with Tarsem Jassar.
