Raj Kapoor, who is also popular as the greatest showman of Hindi Cinema, founded ‘RK Studios’ in 1948 along with RK Films in Chembur, Mumbai. RK Studios has been home to many cinema artists over the years. However, ever since the fire broke out at the property last year, the Kapoor family is looking forward to sell it. Now, it is confirmed by Rishi Kapoor that they are going to sell the 2 acre plot. As per reports, this property will fetch more than a whopping 500 crores which will be distributed amongst the large number of people in the Kapoor clan.

Raj Kapoor was the founder of R.K Films and Studios, which came into being a year after India got its independence. Although, their first film ‘Aag’ did not work at the box office but the studio gained recognition over time with films such as ‘Barsaat’, ‘Bobby’, ‘Awaara’ and ‘Jagte Raho’.

RK Studios logo is derived from an iconic scene from the movie ‘Barsaat’ in which Raj Kapoor is holding Nargis on one arm and a violin in another. The scene was so popular and got so much love of the audience that it was forever immortalized in the logo of ‘RK Studios’.

Raj Kapoor used to host grand festival parties at RK Studio, which were attended by celebrities such as Nargis, Shatrughan Sinha, Amitabh Bachchan and many others. However, Holi was not the only thing that was celebrated in a grand fashion but he also welcomed idols of Lord Ganesha during Ganeshotsav.

The media was never allowed to enter the iconic studio as Raj Kapoor did not want the events held at the RK studios to be featured in any newspaper. Rishi Kapoor when got married to Neetu Singh, held the 20-day celebrations at RK Studios.
