Among them, there is one more Sikh who is winning the hearts for his kind gesture of providing free education to over 1000 poor students who can’t afford to go to schools. Bhan Singh Jassi, a Sangrur based philanthropist, is helping slum kids by educating them. AdvertismentWhen He Started & How He Got Inspired He has started this service in 2003. One morning he saw few slum children scantily dressed and barefoot picking up trash from the streets. Moved by their condition, Bhan Singh decided to start providing education to them. Funds Earlier, Bhan Singh, who is employed with the Punjab electricity department as a lineman, started spending his whole earnings in educating slum kids. It was very difficult for him, but he kept himself motivated. Impressed with his dedication, many people have now joined him in his mission and started supporting him by donating a lump-sum amount. Advertisment Teachers Bhan Singh has hired over 25 part time teachers. School Timings & Areas Bhan Singh runs evening schools for poor children in areas including Barnala, Sangrur, Sirhind, Mohali and Patiala.
