As the year 2019 is coming to an end, people are excited for the beginning of the next decade with 2020. While, 2020 looks promising for Punjabi industry, the year 2019 was filled with historic moments for the same.

Diljit Dosanjh

Diljit Dosanjh kick started the year 2019 by being the first turbaned figure to get his wax statue at Madame Tussads in New Delhi in March.

Mannat Noor’s Laung Laachi

Mannat Noor’s song ‘Laung Laachi’ became first Indian song to hit 1 Billion views on YouTube. Laung Laachi has become the first Indian music video to achieve such a feat.

Guru Randhawa

Guru Randhawa created history with his song ‘Slowly Slowly’. The song came out in April. Guru Randhawa collaborated with the American rapper Pitbull for the song. Meanwhile, the song crossed 100 million views in just 12 days.

Satinder Sartaaj

Sufi singer Satinder Sartaaj became the first turbaned singer to perform live at Opera House, Sydney. He was also the first Punjabi singer to be honoured by the parliament of Victoria, Melbourne.

Gippy Grewal

Gippy Grewal's film 'Ardaas Karaan' created history by emerging as the highest grossing Punjabi film of 2019 in Australia and New Zealand.
