Krishna's teachings in the Mahabharata and Bhagavad Gita have been guiding people for centuries. His conversation with Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra was not just about war. It was about dealing with confusion, fear, anger, relationships, responsibilities and difficult choices. Interestingly, many of the problems Krishna spoke about are still part of everyday life. From worrying about results to dealing with failure and controlling anger, his words continue to feel relatable.

Here are seven important teachings of Lord Krishna, explained in simple words.

1. Focus on Your Work, Not Just the Result

One of Krishna's most famous teachings comes from Bhagavad Gita 2.47:

“Karmanye vadhikaraste ma phaleshu kadachana.”

In simple words, Krishna tells Arjuna to focus on his actions rather than constantly worrying about the result.

We often spend too much time thinking about whether we will succeed or fail. Krishna's message is to give your best to whatever you are doing and not let the fear of the result affect your efforts. Whether it is work, studies, a new project or a personal goal, the message remains the same: do your part sincerely and let the result follow.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/2awkPU5MnF0?si=FscVnA8CQ5rM289o" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe>

2. Don't Let Success or Failure Change You

In Bhagavad Gita 2.48, Krishna talks about maintaining balance in success and failure.

This is easier said than done. A big success can make us extremely happy, while a failure can make us feel like everything is over. Krishna reminds Arjuna that both are temporary parts of life. The idea is not to stop celebrating success or feeling disappointed by failure. Instead, it is about not allowing either one to completely control your mind. Win with humility, lose with courage and keep going.

3. Don't Run Away From Difficult Responsibilities

Arjuna wanted to step away from the battle because he was emotionally overwhelmed by the people standing against him. Krishna helped him understand his duty and the importance of making a decision based on dharma. This teaching can easily connect with modern life. Sometimes, we avoid difficult conversations, decisions or responsibilities because they make us uncomfortable.

Krishna's message is simple: understand your responsibility and face difficult situations with courage. Running away may provide temporary relief, but it does not always solve the problem.

4. Keep Ego Away and Be Kind to Others

In Bhagavad Gita 12.13, Krishna describes qualities such as kindness, compassion and freedom from hatred and excessive ego. The message is especially relevant in a world where success and popularity are often measured publicly. Krishna reminds us that being successful does not mean looking down on others. You can be confident about your achievements while still being respectful and kind. Be successful, but stay grounded.

7. Have Faith When Life Gets Confusing

At the beginning of the Bhagavad Gita, Arjuna is completely confused. He does not know what decision to make and is unable to move forward. Krishna guides him through his confusion and helps him understand his duty. In Bhagavad Gita 18.66, Krishna gives his final message of surrender and assures Arjuna not to grieve.

For devotees, this represents complete faith in Krishna. For others, the broader message can be understood as a reminder that difficult phases will not last forever. When you don't have all the answers, keep faith, do your duty and take the next right step.

Krishna's Teachings Are Still Relevant Today

The reason Krishna's teachings continue to connect with people is simple: the emotions in the Mahabharata are not very different from what people experience today. Arjuna was confused. People today get confused too. He worried about making the wrong decision. People today face the same fear. He struggled with anger, attachment and responsibility emotions that remain part of everyday life.

That is what makes the Bhagavad Gita more than an ancient conversation. Its teachings can still offer perspective when life feels complicated.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/FRTpI2Gu1KA?si=OzduggkxF521lS_2" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Janmashtami 2026: Remembering Krishna Beyond the Celebrations

As people celebrate Krishna Janmashtami 2026 with prayers, bhajans, decorations and festive celebrations, the occasion can also be a chance to look back at Krishna's message. His teachings remind us to focus on our actions, stay balanced, face our responsibilities, control anger, stand for what is right, remain humble and keep faith.

These may sound like simple ideas, but following them in everyday life can be a much bigger challenge. Perhaps that is the real message of Krishna: life will always have difficult moments, but the way we choose to face them can make all the difference.

Krishna Janmashtami 2026: 7 life lessons from Lord Krishna that are still relevant today

https://www.ptcpunjabi.co.in/lifestyle-news/how-dorahas-harman-turned-his-room-into-a-museum-of-pre-partition-punjab-with-more-than-200-rare-objects-4370627

How Sahnewal's Harman turned his room into a museum of Pre-Partition Punjab with more than 200 rare objects?

https://www.ptcpunjabi.co.in/lifestyle-news/how-dorahas-harman-turned-his-room-into-a-museum-of-pre-partition-punjab-with-more-than-200-rare-objects-4370627

Wed, 02 Sep 2026 15:02:02 +0530

Some memories are not written in books. They sit quietly inside old trunks, hang from wooden walls, hide in dusty attics and wait inside forgotten utensils. For many, these objects may look like nothing more than scrap. But for Harman, every old object carries a piece of Punjab that should never be forgotten.

At Harnampura village in Sahnewal, one small room has become a doorway to that lost world. Filled with a century-old charpai, a wooden charkha, age-old coins and many other treasures, the room belongs to Harman, a BA final-year student at a college in Doraha. He has preserved more than 200 rare objects from pre-Partition Punjab, turning his personal room into a museum of memories.

Childhood Encounter With History

Harman’s passion for collecting old things began when he was in Class VII. His school had organised an exhibition where he came across rusted coins, a wooden charkha and beautiful phulkaris. Something about those forgotten objects immediately fascinated him. When he returned home, he opened his grandmother’s trunk. What he found there made the past feel much closer.

Inside were the white bridal cloth worn by his grandmother during her anand karaj, his great-grandmother’s black ghagra, a heavy brass baltohi gifted by his great-great-grandmother and an antique brass tauba.

From that day onwards, Harman began looking at old objects differently. Where others saw age and dust, he saw stories, memories and a connection with the Punjab of another time.

Saving What Was Being Thrown Away

Harman began collecting things that people were discarding as scrap. He brought a baltohi from a scrap dealer, discovered a torn phulkari in an attic and found a coin in a demolished house.

Over time, his collection grew into a rare glimpse of pre-Partition Punjab. It includes centuries-old damda and taka coins, bagh phulkaris with dense hand-dyed embroidery, hand-woven khes, dariyan and carpets, heavy brass kitchenware, agricultural tools and household articles. But Harman’s relationship with these objects does not end with collecting them. He takes special care to preserve them.

Preserving More Than Objects

Harman avoids using chemicals to clean or polish his collection because he does not want the original sheen of the objects to be lost. Instead, he follows the traditional method used by his grandmother, cleaning utensils with lemon, tamarind and ash. The bagh, phulkari and khes are washed gently, dried in the shade and wrapped in white muslin cloth to protect them from sunlight, dust and insects. For Harman, preserving these things is a way of keeping their stories alive.

Letting The Next Generation Touch History

Harman does not keep his collection locked away only for himself. Gilmore Girls offers something completely different small-town charm, cosy cafés and endless coffee conversations. The festival falls on Shravana Purnima and celebrates the emotional and timeless bond between brothers and sisters. According to the Panchang, the Purnima Tithi begins on August 27 and continues until the morning of August 28.

Raksha Bandhan date, time, and muhurat

The auspicious Raksha Bandhan 2026 shubh muhurat for tying the rakhi is 5:57 AM to 9:48 AM on August 28, giving families a window of around 3 hours and 51 minutes for the traditional ritual. Since Panchang timings can vary by location, people in other cities may want to check their local timings.

What Is the Meaning of Raksha Bandhan?

The words Raksha Bandhan literally refer to a bond of protection. Traditionally, sisters tie a rakhi on their brothers' wrists and pray for their happiness, health and well-being, while brothers promise to support and protect their sisters.

But today, the meaning of Raksha Bandhan goes beyond this traditional promise. It is about mutual love, emotional support, respect and being there for each other.

Because let's be honest siblings can fight like enemies one minute and defend each other like a team the next. That's what makes the relationship so real.

Why Is Raksha Bandhan Celebrated?

Raksha Bandhan is celebrated to honour the special bond between siblings. The traditional ceremony includes a rakhi, tilak, aarti and sweets, followed by gifts and blessings. The decorated Rakhi thali commonly includes items such as kumkum, rice, diya, sweets and the rakhi itself.

For many families, however, the most important part is simply spending time together.

From childhood fights over the TV remote to stealing each other's snacks, sharing secrets and sending random reels at midnight sibling relationships are built on hundreds of tiny memories.

And Raksha Bandhan is that one day when everyone gets a little sentimental about them.

Real Essence of Raksha Bandhan 2026

In the age of Instagram stories, WhatsApp calls and long-distance siblings, celebrations have changed, but the emotion hasn't.

Maybe your sibling lives in another city. Maybe you cannot celebrate together this year. Maybe your Rakhi comes with a video call instead of a family gathering. It still counts.

Because the real essence of Raksha Bandhan isn't the price of the gift or how aesthetic the Rakhi looks. It is that simple feeling of “I've got your back.” And honestly, isn't that what every sibling wants to hear?

7 Gen Z WhatsApp Messages for Raksha Bandhan 2026

“Happy Rakhi to my unpaid therapist, professional irritator and forever partner-in-crime.
