During a recent conversation with comedian Bharti Singh and writer-host Haarsh Limbachiyaa, Shilpa admitted that the sexual harassment complaint she filed against producer Sanjay Kohli in 2016 was false. The actress said she felt compelled to take that step because she believed she had no other way to resolve her contractual dispute with the show's producers.

Why Shilpa Filed the Complaint?

According to Shilpa, the conflict began when she was asked to sign a contract that she felt would severely restrict her professional freedom. She claimed the agreement would have prevented her from working elsewhere and limited her ability to negotiate better pay. Feeling cornered by the situation, she said she chose to file a serious complaint after being told that strong allegations were often required to get an FIR registered. The case was eventually settled, allowing her to leave the show.

Dispute Over Control and Working Conditions

Shilpa explained that the issue was never about wanting to work on other projects but about maintaining control over her career decisions. She alleged that the production team tried to pressure her by accelerating her remaining work schedule. According to the actress, nearly ten episodes worth of scenes were completed in just two days, which added to the tension between both sides during her exit from the show.

Apology to the Producer

One of the most significant parts of Shilpa’s confession was her acknowledgment that the allegations harmed Sanjay Kohli’s reputation. She stated that he was unfairly defamed because of the complaint and publicly admitted for the first time that the allegations were false. Shilpa said that after the settlement, her pending payments were cleared and the dispute was resolved. She also admitted that carrying the burden of a false claim was difficult and that she had always intended to reveal the truth when the opportunity arose.

Criticism of Industry Associations

The actress also criticized television industry bodies and associations, claiming that actors often have limited power in disputes with producers. She alleged that certain organizations sided with producers and could influence an actor’s career prospects. Shilpa questioned how an association meant to represent artists could threaten disciplinary action against an artist, arguing that such systems created an imbalance of power within the industry.

New Chapter with the Show

Despite the controversy that surrounded her exit nearly ten years ago, Shilpa returned to Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! in 2025. She revealed that her decision to come back was influenced by the show's writer and shared that she now enjoys a positive relationship with the team. Her return marks a dramatic turnaround in a dispute that once became one of the television industry's most talked-about controversies.

Shilpa Shinde accepts to file false case against Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain's producer

https://www.ptcpunjabi.co.in/viral/why-isnt-drishyam-3-becoming-a-bigger-pan-india-phenomenon-4370242

Why isn’t Drishyam 3 becoming a bigger Pan-India phenomenon?

https://www.ptcpunjabi.co.in/viral/why-isnt-drishyam-3-becoming-a-bigger-pan-india-phenomenon-4370242

Mon, 25 May 2026 17:04:42 +0530

Drishyam 3: Mohanlal has once again pulled audiences into the tense and emotional world of Georgekutty with Drishyam 3. The Malayalam thriller collected Rs13.95 crore nett in India on Day 4, taking its total domestic earnings to Rs 54.55 crore within four days. After opening strongly at Rs15.85 crore, the film dipped slightly on Day 2 before regaining momentum over the weekend. Sunday’s collections even crossed Saturday’s figures, showing that audience curiosity around the franchise remains very much alive.

Globally, Drishyam 3 has already crossed Rs 141 crore, making it the second biggest Malayalam opener after L2: Empuraan. While reviews have been divided, viewers seem emotionally invested in Georgekutty’s journey more than ever. There is a quiet human tension in the film that keeps audiences engaged the fear of a past mistake never truly disappearing.

Why the Film Is Performing Better Overseas?

Interestingly, the film has earned stronger numbers overseas than in India. According to Aashirvad Cinemas, Drishyam 3 crossed Rs 50 crore worldwide on its opening day itself. This reflects how Malayalam cinema has steadily expanded its global reach, especially with thrillers that combine family emotions with suspense.

Directed by Jeethu Joseph, the film continues the story of Georgekutty as old enemies return and new troubles emerge within the family. As his daughter Anju prepares to begin a new chapter in life, buried secrets once again threaten the peace they fought so hard to protect. The ending also leaves behind a strong hint that a fourth installment could already be in the works.

Franchise’s Success Has Created an Unexpected Problem

One of the biggest reasons Drishyam 3 has not become a larger pan-India sensation is the franchise’s own remake history. Hindi audiences already share a strong connection with the Ajay Devgn version of Drishyam, while Telugu viewers have long been familiar with their adaptation too. In Tamil, many viewers watched the Malayalam version on OTT platforms, reducing the urgency to experience the third part in theatres.

This creates a fascinating audience dynamic. The mystery is no longer simply about what happens next, but whether Georgekutty can emotionally outrun the consequences of his past. That deeper psychological pull is what still keeps viewers invested after all these years.

Strong Malayalam Blockbuster, Not a Nationwide Storm

Even without becoming a pan-India phenomenon, Drishyam 3 is performing exactly like a major Malayalam franchise film should big opening numbers, solid weekend recovery, and steady audience support. The coming days will decide whether it comfortably crosses the Rs 150 crore mark worldwide.

What makes the franchise unique is how far it has travelled across languages and cultures. Ironically, that very success may have fragmented its audience. Yet Georgekutty’s story continues to survive because it speaks to something deeply human the desperate need to protect family, even when the truth refuses to stay buried forever.

Why isn’t Drishyam 3 becoming a bigger Pan-India phenomenon?

https://www.ptcpunjabi.co.in/viral/gul-panag-slams-dhruv-rathee-over-pm-modi-remarks-sparks-debate-4370238

Gul Panag slams Dhruv Rathee over PM Modi remarks, sparks debate

https://www.ptcpunjabi.co.in/viral/gul-panag-slams-dhruv-rathee-over-pm-modi-remarks-sparks-debate-4370238

Sat, 23 May 2026 12:11:59 +0530

Gul Panag slams Dhruv Rathee: Actor and former politician Gul Panag has strongly criticised YouTuber Dhruv Rathee over his remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, leading to a heated debate o

Gul Panag slams Dhruv Rathee: Actor and former politician Gul Panag has strongly criticised YouTuber Dhruv Rathee over his remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, leading to a heated debate on social media about the limits of political criticism and the dignity of public institutions.

The controversy began after Rathee commented on PM Modi’s recent foreign visit and encouraged foreign journalists to question the Prime Minister during overseas events. His remarks quickly went viral and triggered mixed reactions online.

What Triggered the Controversy?

During PM Modi’s recent visit to Norway, journalist Helle Lyng asked him a question during a joint media interaction with Norway’s Prime Minister. Reports suggest that the event was not a formal press conference, yet the journalist continued to pursue questions even as the Indian Prime Minister was leaving the venue.

The moment gained attention online, especially among critics of the Modi government. Several social media users, including Dhruv Rathee, praised the journalist and amplified the incident across digital platforms.

Dhruv Rathee later made a controversial statement saying that “Modi deserves to be humiliated everywhere he goes.” The remark drew sharp criticism from many users who felt it crossed the line from political criticism to personal insult.

Gul Panag’s Strong Response

Reacting to Rathee’s comments, Gul Panag posted a strongly worded message on social media defending the dignity of the Prime Minister’s office, even while acknowledging democratic disagreement.

She wrote:

“Not cool. You can dislike a Prime Minister, disagree with a government, protest, debate and vote differently. That’s democracy. But reducing the office of India’s Prime Minister, the man, the office, and what he represents abroad, to a joke on foreign soil - doesn’t feel like the right thing or dissent - to me. It diminishes him, the institution, and ultimately, us.”

Her statement quickly gained traction online because Panag herself has often criticised the Modi government in the past. Many social media users noted that despite her political differences with the government, she chose to defend the dignity of the Prime Minister’s office.

Not cool.

You can dislike a Prime Minister, disagree with a government, protest, debate and vote differently. That’s democracy.

But reducing the office of India’s Prime Minister, the man, the office, and what he represents abroad, to a joke on foreign soil -doesn’t feel like… https://t.co/XNQg7IiVyh
— Gul Panag (@GulPanag) May 22, 2026

Debate Over Criticism vs National Representation

The incident has once again raised questions about the boundaries of political dissent in a democracy. Supporters of Dhruv Rathee argued that questioning leaders and demanding accountability is part of free speech and democratic values. According to them, political leaders should face criticism regardless of where they are.

However, critics believed Rathee’s statement went beyond criticism and entered the territory of humiliation and disrespect. They argued that while governments can be challenged, publicly mocking the country’s Prime Minister on foreign soil may reflect poorly on India’s global image.

Gul Panag’s response stood out because it attempted to draw a distinction between opposing a government and disrespecting a constitutional office.

Questions Around the Journalist’s Viral Fame

The Norwegian journalist involved in the incident, Helle Lyng, became an internet sensation after videos of her questioning PM Modi circulated online. However, critics later questioned the strength and relevance of her questioning. Some argued that the issue she raised was more appropriate for Norwegian authorities rather than the Indian Prime Minister.

Following multiple media interviews, several commentators claimed that the viral moment was exaggerated online for political narratives rather than genuine journalistic accountability.

Gul Panag’s Political Background

Interestingly, Gul Panag has never been seen as a supporter of the Modi government. Over the years, she has openly criticised the government on issues such as the farmers’ protests, civil liberties, and national security. Her political journey began in 2014 when she joined Aam Aadmi Party along with her father, retired Lieutenant General H S Panag. Soon after joining the party, she contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Chandigarh as an AAP candidate. However, she lost the election to BJP leader Kirron Kher.

Her father was also actively associated with the party during that period and frequently advised on defence and strategic matters. Over the years, H S Panag has continued to criticise the Modi government, especially on issues related to defence policy and India-China relations.

Meanwhile, the controversy reflects the growing influence of digital creators and social media personalities in shaping political conversations in India. It also highlights how debates around nationalism, dissent, and free speech continue to divide public opinion. While some see sharp criticism of political leaders as a sign of a healthy democracy, others believe there must be limits when it comes to representing the nation internationally.

Gul Panag slams Dhruv Rathee over PM Modi remarks, sparks debate

https://www.ptcpunjabi.co.in/viral/pm-narendra-modi-georgia-meloni-viral-melody-toffee-video-created-confusion-in-stock-market-4370231

PM Narendra Modi-Georgia Meloni viral 'Melody toffee' video created confusion in Stock Market

https://www.ptcpunjabi.co.in/viral/pm-narendra-modi-georgia-meloni-viral-melody-toffee-video-created-confusion-in-stock-market-4370231

Thu, 21 May 2026 13:04:56 +0530

The internet can't keep calm since the light-hearted moment between Narendra Modi and Giorgia Meloni created an unexpected buzz not just on social media, but also in the stock market. During Modi’s visit to Italy, a viral video showed him gifting a packet of Melody toffees to Meloni. The moment instantly reminded people of the popular internet nickname “Melodi,” a playful combination of “Meloni” and “Modi” that has been widely used online whenever the two leaders appear together.

The video became even more popular after Meloni shared it on social media and jokingly called Melody “a very, very good toffee.” Within hours, lakhs of people were watching, sharing, and reacting to the clip. But while most people enjoyed the joke, some investors ended up making a costly misunderstanding.

Big Stock Market Mix-Up

Soon after the video went viral, shares of Parle Industries suddenly jumped sharply in the stock market. Many traders believed the company was connected to Melody toffees because of the “Parle” name. The stock even touched its upper circuit and gained nearly 5% intraday. However, here’s the important fact: Parle Industries has absolutely no connection with Melody candies.

<blockquote class="instagram-media" data-instgrm-captioned data-instgrm-permalink="https://www.instagram.com/reel/DYjNN2KsWkx/?utm_source=ig_embed&utm_campaign=loading" data-instgrm-version="14" style=" background:#FFF; This is a common mistake in the stock market, especially when social media trends create excitement and people rush to buy shares without checking the actual business details.

Who actually owns Melody toffees?

The famous Melody candy is actually made by Parle Products, one of India’s best-known FMCG companies. It is the same company behind popular brands like Parle-G, Monaco, KrackJack, Mango Bite, and Poppins. But there is another twist; Parle Products is not listed on the stock market. It is a privately held company, meaning ordinary investors cannot buy its shares through stock exchanges.

On the other hand, Parle Industries is a completely separate listed company on the BSE. It does not manufacture Melody toffees or have any direct business relationship with Parle Products. The rally in its stock price was mainly driven by confusion and social media hype.

<blockquote class="instagram-media" data-instgrm-captioned data-instgrm-permalink="https://www.instagram.com/p/DYj5B_qExu1/?utm_source=ig_embed&utm_campaign=loading" data-instgrm-version="14" style=" background:#FFF; Many small investors often react emotionally to viral news without verifying facts. A trending hashtag, a famous brand name, or even a celebrity mention can sometimes push unrelated stocks higher for a short period.

Interestingly, this is not the first time such confusion has happened in the market. Over the years, investors across the world have accidentally bought stocks simply because their names sounded similar to popular companies or trending topics. In this case, the “Melodi” trend turned a simple diplomatic joke into a market-moving event.

Reminder for Investors

The Modi-Meloni Melody moment may have been fun online, but it also became a lesson for investors. Before buying any stock, it is important to check what the company actually does, whether it is linked to the news event, and if the business fundamentals support the excitement.

PM Narendra Modi-Georgia Meloni viral 'Melody toffee' video created confusion in Stock Market

https://www.ptcpunjabi.co.in/viral/amma-ariyan-at-cannes-2026-what-made-john-abrahams-classic-stand-out-4370220

Amma Ariyan at Cannes 2026: What made John Abraham’s classic stand out?

https://www.ptcpunjabi.co.in/viral/amma-ariyan-at-cannes-2026-what-made-john-abrahams-classic-stand-out-4370220

Mon, 18 May 2026 16:54:36 +0530

Amma Ariyan at Cannes 2026: Nearly 40 years after its original release, Amma Ariyan has once again found itself at the centre of global cinema conversations. The restored 4K version of the Malayalam classic received a massive response at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, introducing a new generation to the visionary work of John Abraham. And no, this is not the Bollywood actor known for Dhoom or Pathaan, but the late filmmaker whose bold and politically charged storytelling transformed India’s parallel cinema movement.

What Makes Cannes Film Festival So Special?

The Cannes Film Festival is one of the world’s most prestigious film festivals, held every year in Cannes, France. It is a place where filmmakers, actors, critics and cinema lovers gather to celebrate groundbreaking films from across the globe. A screening at Cannes is not just about showing a movie it is about introducing important cinema to an international audience that values artistic storytelling. Films screened there often gain worldwide recognition, critical appreciation and a second life among younger viewers. For Indian cinema, Cannes has become a proud global platform where regional stories continue to shine year after year.

Why Amma Ariyan Still Feels Powerful Today?

Released in 1986, Amma Ariyan meaning “Report to Mother” follows a group of friends travelling across Kerala to deliver tragic news to a mother about her activist son’s death. But the film is much more than a road journey. It explores politics, grief, youth rebellion, state violence and the emotional cost of social struggle. What made the film stand out at Cannes 2026 was how modern its themes still feel. Even after 40 years, its raw storytelling and emotional honesty connected strongly with today’s audience.

Who is John Abrham? The man behind Amma Ariyan

John Abraham was never interested in commercial formulas. Inspired by legendary filmmaker Ritwik Ghatak during his time at Film and Television Institute of India, he believed cinema should belong to ordinary people. That belief led him to create the Odessa Collective, a people-funded film movement that helped make Amma Ariyan one of India’s earliest crowd-funded films. Instead of depending on studios or wealthy producers, the team collected money directly from the public through street campaigns and screenings. That fearless approach made the film revolutionary not just in content, but also in the way it was created.

India’s Proud Journey at Cannes Continues

India’s relationship with Cannes has grown stronger over the decades, with Indian films, actors and filmmakers regularly representing the country on the international stage. From restored classics to modern independent cinema, Indian storytelling continues to attract global attention. The celebration of Amma Ariyan at Cannes 2026 was more than nostalgia it was a reminder that Indian cinema has always had daring voices capable of changing the language of filmmaking itself. And thanks to this restored screening, a whole new generation is now discovering the genius of John Abraham.

Amma Ariyan at Cannes 2026: What made John Abraham’s classic stand out?
