SARV BRAHMIN MAHASABHA OPPOSES THE RELEASE OF 'PADMAVATI'

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s most ambitious project ‘Padmavati’ has been mired in controversy ever since the veteran director decided to make a film on this legendary 13th-14th century Indian queen. The film which stars Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranvir Singh in lead roles depicts the story of Padmavati who was an exceptionally beautiful princess of the Singhal kingdom.

The film became a part of controversies with allegations being put that the film is depicting wrong facts where the activists vandalised the sets of the film. Sets of the film were vandalized by a group of people in Jaipur in January, earlier this year. The vandalism resulted in broken mirrors installed in the Jaigarh Fort that were over 40 years old, as said by the Archaeological Survey of India.

Well, if that wasn’t enough, now Sarv Brahmin Mahasabha has decided to oppose the releasing of the film alleging the filmmaker of distorting historical facts which no one should have the right to do.

Suersh Mishra, state president of Sarv Brahmin Mahasabha, in a statement said, “They (Bhansali's team) are trying to defame Padmavati by distorting historical facts. No one can tolerate this."

Now, whether or not ‘Padmavati’ will see the light of the day remains to be seen.
