Sirjanhaari: Meet NRI Marriage Fraud Victim Rupali Gupta

The upcoming episode of PTC Punjabi’s TV show ‘Sirjanhaari – Samman Naari Da’ will be aired on December 1, Saturday. The upcoming episode will showcase the journey of women who showed courage to fight against their run-away NRI husbands.

‘Sirjanhaari – Samman Naari Da’, which went on air on September 9, has been getting positive reviews from the audience for showcasing real life stories of women who battled odds to change the world around them.

Here is the synopsis:

Rupali Gupta, a computer engineer from Bathinda, was the first among few girls who initiated the fight against the atrocity done to them by their run-away NRI husbands. Rupali chose to publicly tweet to the External Affairs Minister of India, Sushma Swaraj, and Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Maneka Gandhi last December, demanding justice to her.

Her husband, who was already married, duped her and fled to Canada.

Rupali gathered the courage to approach the government for help. Her issue was duly addressed and her spouse’s passport, impounded.

Inspired by Rupali Gupta, many other women tweeted their issues to these ministers.
