SS Rajamouli downplayed RRR's box office rivalry with Alia Bhatt's ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ and Prabhas' Radhe Shyam, claiming that if the material is strong, any film will succeed.
The three-way showdown between SS Rajamouli's magnum opus ‘RRR’, ‘Alia Bhatt's ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, and Prabhas' ‘Radhe Shyam’ has been the 'anticipated bottleneck' during the pandemic as quoted by filmmaker SS Rajamouli. On Friday, the filmmaker was in Mumbai to announce a special collaboration with PVR Cinemas, a multiplex operator. In January 2022, RRR, starring Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, and Alia Bhatt, will compete with the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film and Radhe Shyam.
"The conflict will not hamper the business," Rajamouli said of the feud. He added “Even if four films are combined, if they are all good, people will come to see them all. This has happened on several occasions in the past."

According to him, the pandemic caused a bottleneck. "A bottleneck was predicted because of the times we are in, with the epidemic and everything being shut down for more than a year and a half." It doesn't matter how many films you put together if the material is good. People will show up regardless of the circumstances. They'll have a lot of options.
Prabhas starred in Rajamouli's most recent two films, ‘Bahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017)’ and ‘Bahubali: The Beginning (2015)’.Now, the actor's next film, ‘Radhe Shyam’, will be released in January 2022, the same month as ‘RRR’. "Not just this," Rajamouli remarked, "but there are many more films to come. I surely hope and wish that all of the films are good, that all of the films earn money, and that all of the films excite and delight the audience. This is a period when we can't claim that my picture must succeed while theirs must fail. This is the time for all of us to unite and say, believe, and feel that all films should be profitable."
Rajamouli also discussed his decision to distribute RRR in theatres, despite the fact that it meant waiting for the theatres to reopen. "I only produce pictures for theatres, for audiences to gather and watch the film together. The way I operate is to see a large number of audience members sitting inside a cinema hall to experience a film. So, the decision was very easy for me, there was no dilemma in that.”
RRR starring Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, and Alia Bhatt has received an AU certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film is scheduled to release in theatres around the world on January 7.
