While Punjabis are well known for their great deeds of humanity, one among them is Bibi Prakash Kaur. She is the mother for more than 100 abandoned girls of the region. Prakash Kaur provides a home to the homeless girls, who are abandoned by their parents. All the young girls are provided education and sent to schools to build a better future for themselves, while more than 30 girls are married off and are living a peaceful life. Meanwhile, Prakash Kaur has sent one of them to London as well, for higher education. She gave home to many new born girls who are left in drains, or dumped near the highway only a few hours after they are born. Bibi Prakash Kaur celebrates birthdays of all the kids together on April 24. She was abandoned herself -- found a few hours old in a drain. Since 1993, she has rescued and raised unwanted and unclaimed newborn girls. She represents the many Sikh women fighting for women and girls against abandonment, domestic violence, sexual assault, and forced marriage. We salute the good deed done by Bibi Prakash Kaur!
