Puneeth played the lead role in 29 different movies. Before embarking on leading roles, Puneeth made numerous cinema appearances as a young actor.

The actor was not only good at singing, but also at dancing. Songs such as Baana Daariyalli Surya, Kannadante Maayavadanu, and others were sung in Kannada by Puneeth Rajkumar.

A mutual friend introduced "Power Star" Puneeth Rajkumar and his wife, Ashwini Revanth. The couple started as friends, fell in love, and were married on December 1, 1999, much like a classic rom-com.

For the 1985 movie Bettada Hoovu, Puneeth got the National Award for Best Child Artist.

He was known as Power Star and his favourite song was "I am a disco dancer" by Mithoon Chakravarty.

A number of his films have been produced by Parvathamma Rajkumar, the veteran Kannada actor Dr. Rajkumar's wife and the mother of 'Power Star' Puneeth Raj Kumar.

Many of his popular movies were translated into other languages.

Puneet allegedly had 26 orphanages, 15 free schools, 16 senior living facilities, and 19 Goshalas for everyone living below the poverty line. 

Actor Honnavalli and Puneeth's cousin Poornima Rajkumar taught him the art of acting. He was unable to attend school.
