Bombay HC orders Salman Khan’s neighbour to remove defamatory social media Posts against actor
The Bombay High Court has directed Ketan Kakkar, a neighbour of actor Salman Khan, to remove defamatory comments about the actor from social media. The order was passed on Thursday in connection with a long-running property dispute involving Khan's farmhouse in Panvel.
Bombay High Court Order
The court stated that social media platforms should not be used to make insulting or damaging remarks about celebrities or any other individuals. Instead, people should raise their complaints with the appropriate authorities.
Background of the Dispute
The dispute began when Ketan Kakkar accused Salman Khan of violating environmental rules while building his farmhouse. Kakkar also claimed that the actor had blocked the access road leading to his house.

In response, Salman Khan filed a defamation lawsuit against Kakkar in 2022. The actor alleged that several tweets, videos, and social media posts related to the dispute were false and damaging to his reputation.
According to Salman, the content shared by Kakkar was not only defamatory but also had the potential to create communal tensions. He argued that the allegations were baseless, misleading, and intended to provoke public sentiment.
Court's Observations
The High Court ruled that Kakkar must delete the defamatory content. It also said that if the content had been uploaded or shared by third parties, online platforms and intermediaries should take steps to ensure its removal.
However, the court noted that Salman Khan could not prove that a particular video interview, which he claimed was defamatory, was directly referring to him.
During the hearing, Salman Khan's lawyer argued that the allegations lacked evidence and were based on assumptions. The lawyer questioned why a property dispute was being used to damage the actor's personal image and bring religion into the matter. He also highlighted Khan's diverse family background, stating that his mother is Hindu, his father is Muslim, and his family celebrates festivals from different religions.
Salman Khan's Work front
On the professional front, Salman Khan was most recently seen in the 2025 film Sikandar.
