Filmmaker Karan Johar has shared a heartfelt and emotional review of the recently released series Raakh, revealing that the show left him deeply shaken and emotionally overwhelmed. Taking to social media, Johar admitted that he had been trying to spend less time on Instagram and take a break from the platform. However, after watching the gripping crime drama, he felt compelled to express his thoughts.

“It’s 1:35 am and I am deeply disturbed after watching the last episode,” Johar wrote, adding that the series affected him not only as a viewer but also as a parent, a human being, and a member of society.
‘Raakh’ Explores the Darkest Side of Humanity
According to Karan Johar, Raakh explores the darkest aspects of human nature and presents a disturbing look at the consequences of evil and violence. He emphasized that neither personal trauma nor difficult childhood experiences can justify giving in to one’s inner darkness. The filmmaker confessed that the emotional impact of the series was so intense that he was unsure how quickly he would recover from what he described as a “trauma binge.”
Prosit Roy’s Storytelling Earns High Praise
While praising the story, Johar reserved special appreciation for director Prosit Roy, applauding his exceptional storytelling, firm narrative control, and restrained approach to emotional storytelling. He described Roy’s craft as “undeniable” and deserving of the highest praise.
Sonali Bendre and Aamir Bashir Deliver ‘Career-Defining’ Performances
Johar was equally impressed by the performances in the series, particularly those of Sonali Bendre and Aamir Bashir. Calling their portrayals “career-defining,” he said their depiction of grief-stricken parents confronting unimaginable tragedy left him awestruck. “They became the characters,” Johar noted, adding that audiences need to watch their performances firsthand to truly experience the emotional depth they bring to the story.
Ali Fazal, Akash Makhija and Ramandeep Yadav Also Shine
The filmmaker also praised Ali Fazal for his strong and impactful performance, while extending special mention to Akash Makhija and Ramandeep Yadav for their brilliant portrayals, appreciating the ensemble cast for bringing authenticity to the intense narrative.
