Salman Khan moves Delhi High Court against ‘Kala Hiran’, cites personality rights violation
Actor Salman Khan has moved the Delhi High Court to stop the release of the film Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legal. He says the film uses his image and is based on the blackbuck poaching case connected to him without his permission.
On Friday, the Delhi High Court asked the filmmakers to reply to Salman Khan's plea. The next hearing will take place on June 19.
Salman Khan's lawyers requested an urgent hearing after the film's trailer was released. They argued that the main character looks very similar to the actor. The character's clothes, style and even a bracelet closely match Salman Khan's famous look.
The actor says the filmmakers are using his identity to attract attention and promote the movie. He believes this harms his reputation.
His legal team also told the court that Salman Khan was cleared in three blackbuck-related cases, while one case is still pending before the Supreme Court. The petition also objects to the film's poster, which shows the main character holding a gun. Salman Khan says this gives a wrong impression and does not match the facts of the court cases.
The actor has asked the court to stop the film from using anything that resembles him or his image.
Earlier, in December 2025, the Delhi High Court had given Salman Khan protection against the unauthorized use of his name, image and personality. Many other celebrities have also received similar legal protection.
The court will hear the case again on June 19 after the filmmakers submit their response.
