Commonwealth Games 2022: From Anushka Sharma to Taapsee Pannu, B-town celebs hail Mirabai Chanu on winning gold

Commonwealth Games 2022: Mirabai Chanu once again made the whole nation proud as she bagged India's first Gold medal in 49kg category of weightlifting at Commonwealth Games 2022, which is being held in Birmingham. Soon after Chanu received the gold medal, she garnered so many praises from around the corner, including Bollywood celebrities like Anushka Sharma and Taapsee Pannu among the others.

From Anushka Sharma, Anupam Kher, Shilpa Shetty to Taapsee Pannu, the whole Bollywood fraternity took to social media and congratulated the weightlifter Mirabai Chanu for winning the nation's first gold medal at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022.

Mirabai Chanu successfully defended her Commonwealth Gold with a world-record total of 201 kg (88 kg and 113 kg).

While congratulating her, Anushka Sharma wrote, "You are our Pride", Kareena Kapoor Khan called her 'Legend'.

Shilpa Shetty uploaded photos of gold medalist Mirabai and Sanket Sargar, who won silver medal, and wrote, "Massive congratulations to @mirabai_chanu and #SanketSargara for making India proud at the #Commonwealth2022 Games. Jai Hind."

Yami Gautam Dhar wrote: "Congratulations to The Golden Girl of India".

Anupam Kher wrote a beautiful congratulatory note to Mirabai Chanu on his social media account.

Sanket and Gururaja Poojary, two other weightlifters from India, won silver and bronze in the men's 55kg and 61kg divisions, respectively.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also hailed Mirabain Chanu for her win, he wrote, "The exceptional @mirabai_chanu makes India proud once again! Every Indian is delighted that she’s won a Gold and set a new Commonwealth record at the Birmingham Games. Her success inspires several Indians, especially budding athletes."
