Legendary Sufi singer Puranchand Wadali JI is celebrating his birthday today. The elder among the famed Wadali brothers, Puranchand Wadali turned 79 on June 4. This is Puran Chand Wadali Ji’s second birthday without his younger partner Pyarelal Wadali, who breathed his last on 9 March 2018.

Ustad Puran Chand Wadali Ji never considered music as his career. He, in fact, treated music as his religion. For him, music means to stay in touch with the almighty.

For his remarkable contribution in the field of Sufi music, Ustad Puran Chand Wadali Ji was honoured with Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award, by the Indian Government in 2005.
