Who is Salman Rushdie and is his health condition update? In a shocking incident, the renowned author Salman Rushdie, who was facing death threats over his book 'The Satanic Verses', was "attacked and stabbed" on stage in Western New York state.
Giving the update about Salman Rushdie's health condition, New York Governor Kathy Hochul said that the author was alive and that he was taken to a local hospital.

Kathy said while Salman Rushdie was stabbed on stage in Western New York state, the event moderator was also attacked. She said that he's getting the care that he needs.
According to the New York State police, a male suspect ran up onto the stage before the event at the Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua and attacked Salman Rushdie.

The author suffered an apparent stab injury to the neck and was taken to a nearby hospital via helicopter. In the meanwhile, a suspect was taken into custody.
"State Police are investigating an attack on author Salman Rushdie prior to a speaking event at the Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, NY," the statement reads.
