'Most difficult component of the character development was bowling like Kapil Dev' says Ranveer Singh ahead of the release of 83

Ranveer Singh, who will portray renowned Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev in the upcoming sports drama '83,' has discussed getting into character. The most difficult component of Ranveer's character development, he stated, was bowling like a superstar cricketer.

"The most difficult component of the character development was bowling like Kapil Dev," stated Ranveer. His bowling action is one-of-a-kind, as are his bio-mechanics. Because my physicality is so dissimilar to his, I had to radically alter my physicality to attain it.

It took a lot of time to enhance the action. Because I had just finished shooting 'Simmba,' my physique was initially too heavy." Balwinder Singh Sandhu, who was also his coach at the time of the 1983 World Cup victory, saw that his physique was too heavy and told him, "Jab tu run-up mein aata hai toh tu aisa lagta hai ki pehelwan bowling karne aa raha hai. And he sent me away for a month merely to change my physique to make it closer to Kapil's agility," Ranveer continued.

For six months, I played cricket for four hours a day and did physical conditioning for two hours a day. I put in a lot of hours over the course of four months of preparation and two to three months of shooting." Ranveer's transformation into Kapil Dev put his body to the test. "I had a few injuries along the way, but it was critical for me to crack his move since it is an iconic bowling action, and all of his fans will be watching to see if I did it correctly or not."
