The film is an adaptation of Kalidasa's famous play 'Abhijnana Shakuntalam'. Following its theatrical release, the film is now also available on OTT platforms. Pan India Release has released the film in all languages on digital platform.

The film 'Shakuntalam' features a talented cast including Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Dev, Sachin Khedekar, Kabir Bedi, Dr. Mohan Babu, Prakash Raj, Madhubala, Gautami, Aditi Balan, Ananya Nagalla, and Jisshu Sengupta in important roles. Shakuntalam Real Story
