The Punjabi film industry came together to bid an emotional farewell to veteran journalist, social worker, and educationist Swaran Singh Bhangu, husband of renowned Punjabi actor Gurpreet Kaur Bhangu, at a heartfelt memorial gathering held in his honour.
Swaran Singh Bhangu, who tragically lost his life in an accident at Chamkaur Sahib, Punjab, on May 4, was remembered not only for his remarkable career in journalism but also for his lifelong dedication to education and social welfare. Family members, friends, colleagues, students, and members of the entertainment industry gathered to celebrate a life devoted to serving society.

Several prominent personalities from the Punjabi film fraternity, including Karamjit Anmol, Nirmal Rishi, Malkeet Rauni, Seema Kaushal, Prabh Grewal, Sukhi Brar, and many others, attended the memorial service and paid their heartfelt tributes. The gathering was filled with emotion as those present shared memories of Bhangu's humility, generosity, and unwavering commitment to public service.

One of the most inspiring aspects of Swaran Singh Bhangu's legacy is his final act of selflessness. Years before his passing, he had pledged to donate his body for medical education and research. Respecting his last wish, his family donated his mortal remains to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, ensuring that his contribution to society would continue even after his death.
The memorial also witnessed the presence of a large number of Bhangu's former students, who remembered him as a dedicated mentor and guide whose teachings extended far beyond the classroom. Sri Chamkaur Sahib MLA Charanjit Singh Channi also attended the ceremony and offered floral tributes, honouring Bhangu's lasting impact on the community.

Remembered as a compassionate, humble, and inspiring personality, Swaran Singh Bhangu devoted his life to journalism, education, and social service. His countless contributions continue to inspire generations, while his decision to donate his body stands as a powerful symbol of humanity and selfless service. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched and in the lives he continues to influence through his final gift to medical science.
