Rishab Shetty's Call for Inclusivity: Kannada Films Seek a Place on OTT Platform
Renowned actor from the Southern film industry, Rishab Shetty, is capturing widespread attention with his forthcoming cinematic venture, "Kantara 2." Following the monumental success of its predecessor, the actor earned widespread acclaim for his stellar performance. However, amidst the accolades, Shetty has recently raised his voice against what he perceives as the neglect of Kannada films on Over-the-Top (OTT) platforms, expressing his concerns at the 54th Indian International Film Festival (IIFFAI).
Shetty's Critique of OTT Platforms:
Addressing the IIFFAI audience, Rishab Shetty conveyed his disquiet, stating, "OTT platforms are proving to be inaccessible for the Kannada film industry, and this is a disconcerting signal. Assertions of inadequate subscribers are being made, and a thorough examination of this issue is imperative. Despite active engagement from two prominent production houses—Rakshit Shetty's Param Studios and my Rishab Shetty Films—alongside numerous other production entities, our films, despite participation in various film festivals, are not receiving the recognition they deserve."
The actor from the critically acclaimed "Kantara" appealed to IIFFAI for support in ensuring that films with limited cinema screenings find acknowledgment and a platform on OTT services. Shetty emphatically stressed, "Movies that undergo limited cinema screenings also deserve acknowledgment and should be showcased on OTT platforms, ensuring a wider audience and recognition for the filmmakers."

Presently, Rishab Shetty is deeply engrossed in the production of "Kantara 2," officially titled "Kantara: Chapter 1." The recent revelation of the film's first look portrayed Rishab Shetty in a compelling and blood-stained role, heightening anticipation among fans. The commencement of the shooting for "Kantara 2" is scheduled for December, promising a cinematic spectacle that fans eagerly await.
