On Saturday, two men in Telangana, India's southernmost state, married in a ceremony that marked the first 'same-sex' marriage in the state.

Abhay Dange and Supriya Chakraborty dressed up in white tuxedos and exchanged rings in a spectacular marquee in what they described as a hopeful wedding, referring to each other as soul mates.

Some events merit a group celebration, in which we share in the joy and success of others. Supriyo Chakraborty and Abhay Dange, Telangana's first gay couple, were recently married.

Regardless of the fact that homosexual marriages are illegal in India, the two held a 'promising ceremony,' where they exchanged rings and words and celebrated their new beginnings with family.

Many people on the internet were ecstatic for the pair and we're wishing them well.

Close friends, relatives, and members of the LGBTQ community attended the ceremony, which took place outside of Hyderabad's city limits.

"Our parents weren't initially the most supportive. However, they also didn't disapprove of it either. They decided to give us and themselves a good amount of time to introspect and come to a better conclusion. Now, we have their acceptance," Chakraborty said.

According to Chakraborty, Mehendi has always been a woman-centric ritual, and they intended to change that by having the same ceremony for all men at the site.
