Sooryavanshi's release date has been pushed back quite a bit. The third film in Rohit Shetty's cop franchise, starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, will be released this Diwali and will include cameos by Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty. The release date was announced shortly after Maharashtra announced that theatres would open in the state in October.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray made the decision following a meeting with film producers, exhibitors, and other notable figures in the entertainment industry. It has now been confirmed that the highly anticipated Sooryavanshi will be released in theatres on Diwali 2021. The film, which was completed prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, was halted after the halls were closed due to the COVID-19 outbreak across the country.
Akshay Kumar took to his Instagram handle to share the news and also thanked Maharashtra’s CM in his post.
“Thanks to our Honourable Chief Minister, Shri Uddhav Thackeray, Maharashtra theatres will reopen on October 22nd,” Rohit Shetty tweeted alongside a photo of Thackeray.
Sooryavanshi, directed by Rohit Shetty, may be the first major release in Maharashtra following the pandemic. The film, which co-stars Katrina Kaif, is the latest addition to Shetty's cop universe, which previously included Singham and Simmba.

Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh will also make cameo appearances in the film, both of whom arrived in style at the film's trailer launch almost a year ago.
