Ayesha Khan claimed she was detained by Mumbai Police while peacefully supporting students in Dadar. In videos, the actress said she had not started any protest and questioned why she was taken into custody. Revealed she was released 2 hours later and is trying to get her brother released from Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Police Station.
Actress Ayesha Khan has claimed that she was detained by the Mumbai Police on July 22 while trying to show support for students. The actress shared a series of videos and Instagram Stories, saying she was taken into a police van despite standing peacefully on the road. According to her, she had gone to Dadar with her brother and a few friends to support students.
Ayesha said she was detained by the Dadar Police and later taken to Worli Police Station along with others.
Why Ayesha Khan Says She Was Detained?According to Ayesha, she reached Dadar with her brother and a few friends to show support for students. Soon after they arrived, police allegedly informed them that protests were not allowed at that location. Following this, her brother and some of her male friends were detained.
The actress said that while she was trying to understand what was happening and locate her brother, police officers asked her and others to get into a police van. Ayesha stated that she, her brother, and one of her friends were detained and taken to Worli Police Station.
What Ayesha Khan Said in Her VideosIn a video recorded from inside the police van, Ayesha said, "My hands are shivering right now. I have been detained in a police van for just standing on the road peacefully. I didn’t say a word. I didn’t even start the protest. I was just standing because my brother and my male friends were detained."
She repeated that she had not started any protest and was only standing on the roadside after her brother and friends had been taken by the police.
In another video, Ayesha showed four women police personnel escorting her into the police van. Along with the clip, she wrote, "Unfortunately it took 4 police women to pull me in. But I ask the same question again, why? Did I make a noise? Did I even start a conversation? Detained me for what? For standing in the road? Wasn’t even in the group of 5."
Actress Questions the Police ActionSharing another video in which she appeared to be dragged into the police van, Ayesha wrote, "Dragged, detained for standing in peace. Asked questions to all the police people present there on why were we being detained? But no answer whatsoever! Sadak pe khade rehna kabse crime ho gaya?"
She also said that she kept asking why she had been detained and what law she had broken, but claimed she did not receive any answer. Ayesha added, "My stand is clear. We lack accountability, EVERYWHERE. I still have hope, we will see a better future. #JaiHind #JaiMaharashtra."
Ayesha Khan Says She Has Been ReleasedA few hours later, Ayesha shared another update on her Instagram Story, informing her followers that she had been released. However, she said her brother was still in custody and that she was heading to bring him back.
In her story, Ayesha wrote, "I have been released, going to get my brother released now from Rafi Ahmed Kidwai police station. We were all taken to different parts of the city, intentionally. Let me repeat, for doing nothing."
Her latest update came after a series of videos in which she questioned why she had been detained. The actress maintained throughout her posts that she had been standing peacefully and had not started any protest. At the time of her final update, she said she was on her way to the Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Police Station to secure her brother's release.
