Don 3 row: Ammy Virk backs Ranveer Singh in the Don 3 controversy, questions Excel Entertainment's timing, and says the actor shouldn't return Rs 45 crore.
Actor-singer Ammy Virk has publicly supported Ranveer Singh amid the ongoing Don 3 controversy. Ranveer Singh recently faced a non-cooperation directive after reports of his exit from the film, but Ammy believes Ranveer has done nothing wrong. Having worked with Ranveer in Kabir Khan's sports drama 83, Ammy said he trusts the actor completely and feels he should not be held responsible for the current dispute.
Questions Raised Over Excel Entertainment's DecisionSpeaking about the issue, Ammy said he found the producers' timing surprising. According to him, Don 3 could have moved forward when Ranveer was struggling with a series of box office failures. Instead, the makers remained silent and acted only after the success of Dhurandhar.

"I feel, when he had a few flops, then you (Excel) could have started Don 3. Then they ignored him. Now that Dhurandhar is a hit, they are asking for their money back. They can do whatever they want. Whatever they are owed of ₹2-4 crore, take that and move on. Who is going to give Rs 45 crore?” said Ammy Virk
He also added that legal battles like these often continue for years without any clear outcome.
Ammy Recalls His Conversation with RanveerAmmy also shared a personal moment with Ranveer after the trailer of Dhurandhar was released. He revealed that he congratulated the actor, who had recently become a father. Ranveer replied with a long message, saying he had put everything into the film and hoped it would succeed. Ammy encouraged him to stay positive and told him that his newborn daughter had brought him good luck. Looking at the film's success, Ammy believes his words came true.
What Is the Don 3 Controversy? The Don 3 dispute gained attention after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh following reports of his exit from the film. However, the organisation later revoked the directive after receiving a complaint from Farhan Akhtar and Excel Entertainment. Ranveer Singh was announced as the new face of the Don franchise in 2023, taking over from Shah Rukh Khan, who starred in Don (2006) and Don 2 (2011). Reports later claimed that Ranveer walked away from the project after the success of Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar. Farhan Akhtar reportedly approached FWICE, alleging that Ranveer's decision caused financial losses of around ₹45 crore.
Ranveer Singh's Upcoming ProjectDespite the ongoing controversy, Ranveer Singh is moving ahead with his career. The actor is expected to collaborate with director Jay Mehta for his next film, titled Pralay.
