Home That Reflects Hema Malini's Love for Art

According to Esha, every corner of Advitiya reflects Hema Malini's deep love for art, culture, and Indian traditions. The spacious interiors are designed in soothing shades of beige and gold, creating an elegant yet warm atmosphere. Carefully placed furniture allows plenty of natural light to flow through the rooms, making the home feel bright and welcoming.

The entrance itself offers a glimpse into the family's artistic roots. Beautiful artworks showcasing classical dance mudras adorn the walls, paying tribute to Hema Malini's lifelong passion for dance.

Living Room That Doubles as a Dance Studio

One of the most special spaces in the house is the grand living-cum-dance room. It is not just a place for entertaining guests but also serves as the family's spiritual and cultural centre. Esha shared that the family regularly performs pujas, havans, and meditation sessions here.

The room also houses treasured memories, including photographs from Hema Malini's dance performances, books dedicated to classical dance, and a special memorial corner dedicated to Dharmendra. The wooden flooring has been specially maintained because around 30 people, including Hema Malini herself, continue to practise dance here even today.

Renovated After the Mumbai Floods

Although the family has lived in the home for decades, the original bungalow underwent a major transformation after the devastating Mumbai floods of 2005. Following the renovation, Advitiya became a three-to-four-storey residence.

Today, different members of the family live on separate floors, with each level reflecting the personality and lifestyle of its residents while still maintaining the warmth of a shared family home.

Two Kitchens, One Thoughtful Family Tradition

One of the most interesting details from the house tour was the unique kitchen arrangement. Hema Malini, who follows a strict vegetarian lifestyle, has her own exclusive kitchen and personal chef. No non-vegetarian food is allowed to be prepared in this space.

To accommodate everyone else's food preferences, the family has a second kitchen where non-vegetarian meals are cooked for guests, Esha's children, and other family members, including their grandparents. Esha explained that this thoughtful arrangement ensures everyone's choices are respected without compromising her mother's beliefs.
