Why Did She Join the Protest?

After the video went viral, Ahir explained why she decided to step in front of the police van. She said she acted after seeing student protesters being detained. According to her, "The police aren't doing their job responsibly. If they won't be responsible, then we will take responsibility for our citizens."  She also criticised the police action against student protesters in Delhi, saying it was wrong and that students deserved support rather than detention.

She Was Not a NEET Aspirant

Riya Ahir clarified that she is not a NEET aspirant. She joined the protest to stand in solidarity with students demanding accountability over the alleged NEET UG 2026 paper leak and other examination-related irregularities.

According to Ahir, her decision was completely spontaneous. She said she did not plan to become part of the protest but reacted to what she witnessed at the site.
